Thanks for visiting our website.  Here’s a brief introduction to your captain, Ron Smith: I am a retiree of IBM with 24 years of service, performing a variety of functions in the data processing environment, which included “hands-on” installation and repair of large main-frame computers, de-bugging the operating systems software, and the designing of world-wide telecommunications networks for large corporations.  I am a 1994 graduate of the Chapman School of Seamanship in Stuart, FL and have been actively performing marine surveys for over 20 years.  Survey services/experience include:

I hold a 100 Ton Master license with the US Merchant Marine I am a former instructor of the United States Power Squadron, holding the degree of “Advanced Pilot.” I have worked/apprenticed as a pilot of the Spirit of Peoria excursion boat in Peoria, IL www.spiritofpeoria.com a 160′ paddle wheeler I have worked for DisneyWorld as a water taxi pilot in the Magic Kingdom I am a former member of American Water Ski Assn. and have skied competitively in tournaments, and thus am familiar with competition ski boats. I owned/operated Illinois Marine Technologies in Peoria Heights, IL for 7 years; a propeller service center and custom marine canvas shop. I developed, owned, and operated Prop Warehouse, a dot-com business with specialized in discount propeller sales, world wide. I have owned a boat since the age of 12; seventeen boats in all. Some I built, some I rebuilt, and some I simply enjoyed navigating, a total of 53 years of experience at the helm. I am a licensed insurance adjuster in the state of Florida: Florida Dept. of Financial Services, 0520-Independent Adjuster- All Lines #W084868 I survey to the standards of ABYC (American Boat and Yachts Council). I am an Accredited Marine Surveyor (AMS) with the Society of Accredited Marine Surveyors (SAMS) www.marinesurvey.org
